ROHM Semiconductor USA, LLC Senior Applications Engineer in Novi, Michigan

ROHM Semiconductor USA, LLC is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of "Senior Applications Engineer" at its Novi, Michigan location. 

The Senior Applications Engineer position is responsible for supporting the technical and business activities for ROHM products, providing technical expertise to key customer engineers in the semiconductor and automotive industries for the Company's North American and Latin America markets.  This position works on power management, magnetic/optical sensors and video integrated circuits (ICs) for automotive applications as well as industrial/consumer applications.  The Senior Applications Engineer position is also responsible for internal and external facing business topics, developing technical marketing presentations, webinars and providing technical expertise for sales assistance in product engagements with customers.  Finally, this position assists the IC Development Team in evaluating new products and participating in the go-to-market rollout of new introduction and early proof concepts.

The Senior Applications Engineer position also includes the following: (1) work on product definition based on market trends, develop business case analysis from Tier-1 customers, and present to ROHM development teams to launch new products; (2) perform circuit simulations, system model simulations, correlated simulations with data generated in the lab and present system solutions to customers; (3) engage with key customer engineers to work on customer related application problems and complete the successful design-in of ICs, modules, discrete semiconductor ROHM products; (4) collaborate and work with colleagues on Engineering, Sales and Marketing Teams to provide technical support during all stages of the product life cycle; (5) work with customers during the design phase to understand the full scope of the customers' requirements to better guide the development teams; (6) design and/or modify printed circuit boards to simplify evaluation and testing of ROHM products; (7) maintain solid hardware and firmware skills to enable the entire system development using IC products; (8) work closely with development team to assist in the validation and verification processes; (9) participate in new product design reviews (internally and externally); (10) generate customer-specific technical presentations using qualitative data to illustrate final product application(s) and benefits at the system level for customer-use cases; (11) provide technical support to identify suitable solutions for customer projects; (12) develop technical debugging strategies and lead them to execution; (13) drive sophisticated debugging engagements with customers; (14) lead technical aspects of customer engagements through all stages of the product life cycle; (15) prepare required technical reports and presentations and written project updates, as needed; (16) develop and deliver software/hardware demonstrations and technical presentations; and (17) respond to technical inquiries from customers/internal clients.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a minimum of a Master's degree in Electronical and/or Electronics Engineering or a related field of study. In addition, qualified candidates must possess 12 months (pre or post degree) experience in electronics hardware design, modeling, analysis and optimization. 

Qualified applicants must also have:

engineering knowledge regarding testing, design and optimization of power semiconductors for automotive power management applications, EV charging, wireless charging, hybrid automotive power trains using dc-ac inverters and high frequency DC/DC converters;

the ability to work with project teams to implement embedded systems (including hardware and software), debugging of embedded systems using C++, Python and peripherals including sensors, memories, actuators for automotive or industrial systems;
