Utilities Service, LLC Dispatcher - ULCS in Novi, Michigan

Dispatcher

Under the supervision of the Substation Operations Manager, the dispatcher will perform basic office duties. These duties include but are not limited to daily and weekly scheduling, problem solving, and multi-tasking. This position also requires the employee to work 24/7 shift schedules, consisting of day shifts (0700-1500), afternoon shifts (1500-2300) 12 hour day shifts (0600-1800) and 12 hour night shifts (1800-0600) which includes weekend and holidays

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Work within all applicable safety rules.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

  • Able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Must be able to work independently or in a group environment.

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Be available to work overtime and be available during off-duty hours.

  • Able to work in all areas related to customer properties

  • Must have the ability to adapt to changes to best fit the company and needs of the customer.

  • Access is a condition of employment at all times.

Education & Experience

  • 2 or 4-year college degree preferred.

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

Pre-Screen

  • Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.

License & Certifications:

  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) required.

Physical Requirements:

  • RARE (up to 10%): stooping, kneeling, squatting, body twisting, crawling, seeing distant, climbing on/off truck, climbing poles, gripping, lifting over 10 lbs to 50 lbs., depth perception, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, balancing, lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • OCCASIONAL (up to 33%): standing, walking, manual dexterity, reaching, range of motion, color vision, carrying, climbing stairs, lifting up to 10 lbs.

  • FREQUENT (up to 66 %): sense of touch

  • CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): sitting, speaking clearly, seeing, reading, hearing-speech range.

Safety

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally.
