Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer I to be based in Novi, Michigan.

This position is expected to begin in March 2025.

Job description summary :

  • Under direct supervision, performs routine duties requiring knowledge of basic engineering principles.

  • Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work.

  • Performs specific and limited portions of broader assignments.

  • Spends large percentage of time performing estimating take-offs and performing walk-downs for quantity tracking purposes, reporting of installed quantities, performing field inspections to verify adherence to design.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist Resident Engineer with progress meetings, processing contractor submittals and project documentation.

  • Be part of Field inspection Teams for oversight of transportation construction projects.

  • Monitor and record the work and progress of contractors, while tracking material quality and usage.

  • Verify that traffic control measures are implemented and maintained during construction.

  • Maintain communication between AECOM supervisors and peers, MDOT and local agency personnel, contractor personnel and the general public.

  • Develop roadway construction cost estimates by calculating construction quantities and creating spreadsheets.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering or other related field

  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.

  • As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate

  • Knowledge of CADD is desired

  • Previous internship working on a DOT, Local agency design or construction project

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $56,680.00 - $77,935.00.
