NBT Bank Purchasing & Courier Manager in Norwich, New York

Pay Range: $76,245.00 - $101,795.00

The Purchasing & Courier Manager provides corporate wide support. The purchasing team is responsible for responsible for overseeing and managing purchasing of supplies, including specialized technical requirements, currency & coin counter inventory, as well as standard business supplies. Leverage multiple vendors to ensure supplies and competitive pricing. Maintain accurate invoice tracking and adherence to budget and control policies. Team is additionally responsible for retention and destruction of physical (paper) records.

The incumbent also oversees the acquisition and maintenance of all corporate vehicles, both executive and courier fleets. Through a combination of employees and outsourced vendors, the Courier team delivers bank materials throughout the footprint. The manager ensures courier schedules are sufficient, maintained, and staffed. Additional responsible for meeting executive driving requests, certain EMT travel, and other special requests. Manager utilizes significant judgement and provides guidance on complex business situations.

Monitor quality and service levels. Develop and create reports, tracking relevant metrics. Responsible for quality control activities and provide constructive feedback. Build a high performing team directly by attracting, developing, retaining, and recognizing a diverse workforce. Coach and mentor team members. Ensure effective one on one conversations occur throughout the team. Provides direction, feedback, support, and encouragement for career development.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience required. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 2+ years supervisory experience preferred

  • Procurement experience preferred

  • This role has extensive exposure to LOB management, regional managers, and others across the organization. Additional strong relationships with outside parties (attorneys, regulators, vendors, user groups) required.

  • Develops and maintains productive tactical relationships with peers and others across the organization.

Unique Job Characteristics and Requirements:

  • Driver’s License required

  • Ability to travel (drive) to multiple locations and drive multiple vehicles

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and project management

  • Coordination of executive driving as required.

  • Physical activities required (lifting, standing, walking, etc.)

Tasks Performed:

  • 30% Manage and lead assigned departments to ensure timely and accurate completion of assigned responsibilities

  • 20% Ensure superior client interactions throughout team – with both internal and external customers

  • 20% Responsible for adherence to policy by creating and monitoring procedures, processes, and quality control

  • 15% Ensure prudent protection of banks assets. Maintain current knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to assigned operational areas to ensure compliance of activities within the area.

  • 10% Manage personnel matters including hiring, training and development.

  • 5% Other duties as assigned including but not limited to training of business lines.

Physical Requirements:

  • Communicate effectively with internal and/or external customers

  • Stationary 75% of time or greater

  • Move Objects to Maximum 10 lbs
