About the role

Where you'll work:

Our Norwich, NY location is part of our Foundational Technologies Division and one of our specialty sites that creates proteins, coatings, and blends. The location lies within Chenango County and is advantageously located within a 50-mile radius of the major cities of Binghamton, Syracuse, Utica, Cooperstown and Oneonta.

Pay Rate: $65 - $85k

3rd Shift shift hours: 11:30pm to 8am

Monday - Friday

The typical hiring range for this role is $65,000 to $85,000 annually and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements)

Key responsibilities

What you'll do:

Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for:

Executes the training for personnel at the Norwich, NY facility.

Ensures new and existing team members are trained on equipment operations, maintains and updates operating procedures and working instructions. Processing products to meet established product quality specifications and packaging requirements while ensuring compliance to safety, environmental and regulatory policies.

Coordinates and supervises the activities of the operators and team leaders to maximize efficiencies with minimal equipment downtime.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Demonstrates leadership in the area of safety.

Continually endorses the Quality Policy and assures conformance to all requirements of the Quality Management System.

Assists the Production Manager in implementing and conceiving new initiatives with the purpose of improving plant performance driven by, but not limited to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as BOP, product cost/lb., throughput, downtime (% on-line), % shippable, % OTIF (On Time In Full), inventory levels and safety indicators, adherence to plan (ATP), and non-conforming reports (NCRs)

Leads and coordinates employee element of assigned work group to maximize efficiency.

Becomes expert in department(s) overseeing-- process streams by understanding & coordinating the equipment operation, SAP, standard operating procedures (SOPs), GMP, safety, sanitation, preventative maintenance programs and personnel capabilities.

Ensures new and existing team members are trained on the operation of all equipment, relevant IFIX interfaces and instrumentation, the importance of following working instructions and provides documentation of training.

Empowers employees to effectively perform their tasks independently at the expected level by ensuring that the necessary knowledge, training, and tools have been provided.

Ensures that batch records and working instructions are up to date, accurate and accessible to all team members.

Ensures adherence to established quality assurance, GMP, ISO and regulatory procedures.

Participates in developing finite production schedules at weekly scheduling meeting.

Reports all equipment and instrumentation malfunctions immediately for repair and assists in trouble shooting and diagnosing problems to ensure timely repair. Initiates maintenance work orders.

Interacts with the Process Technology team to optimize the yields and processing parameters.

Continually ensures and oversees the cleanliness, sanitation and appearance of the equipment, facility sanitation and housekeeping procedures to ensure compliance with established internal programs and regulatory codes.

Maintains production tracking records, reports, and spreadsheets to provide information and data for daily/weekly/monthly reporting of production efficiency and monthly KPIs.

Responsible for the scheduling of all production personnel. Approves vacation requests and arranges for coverage. Posts the schedule weekly for employees, and updates Kronos schedules and time off requests daily. Approves timecards in Kronos weekly.

Qualifications and skills

SKILLS:

Ability to understand functioning process equipment.

Good communication, leadership, planning and organizational skills are required.

Influential track record in training.

Must have good computer/IT skills; Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience required.

Knows multiple jobs in department.

Be neat and consistent in whatever this individual does.

Be able to read and understand written instructions from the department Manager.

Be capable of strict adherence to company policies and yet able to use common sense in making many daily decisions required in this position.

Individual should be capable of adjusting his/her work schedule to the requirements of the department.

REQUIREMENTS:

Previous experience in a manufacturing environment

Knowledge of multiple jobs preferred.

Demonstrated ability to multitask.

Leads by influence.

A four-year degree preferred in business, science or relevant field, or 5 years production supervision with demonstrated effective leadership and performance.

Minimum of 2 years experience in a pharmaceutical or related industry.

Leadership experience is desirable.

Familiarity with spray drying and powders processing highly desirable.

SAP experience is desirable.
