STAR, Inc., Lighting the Way... Job Developer in Norwalk, Connecticut
STAR, Inc. is a Norwalk based non-profit that provides support services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
We are looking for job developers to assist STAR job seekers in preparing for employment with local business partners. This is a unique and enriching opportunity to profoundly impact the lives of people we serve. Our Job Developers play a key role in securing meaningful jobs for our participants to give them an immense sense of pride, independence and inclusion in their communities.
In this role our Job Developers:
Will assist in preparing our individuals for employment (i.e., interviews, job seeking skills training; resume and profile development.)
Provide support, training and supervision to ensure service delivery.
Spend time through discovery getting to know targeted individuals (learning their needs, strengths, goals and dreams) to develop a plan for employment.
Reach out to community contacts to uncover and secure possible employment opportunities for STAR job seekers.
Our ideal candidates will have a bachelor's degree and previous experience in placement or employment training. They would also either be Certified in Customized Employment or be willing to obtain certification through STAR.
