A Day in the Life

Technical Sourcing (TS) is the primary integration point linking Global Supply Management (GSM) with Technology and New Product Development (NPD) Project Teams aligning Medtronic Product and Supplier Technology Roadmaps.

Global Technical Sourcing accelerates innovation through suppliers to create a sustainable competitive advantage.

Technical Sourcing will engage with consistent processes as a GSM Project Management function to lead the Reduction of Overall Supply Risk and drive the adoption of capable technologies and sources in NPD. This will result in predictable supply and competitiveness through a full product launch.

As the Sr. Technical Sourcing Program Manager, you will manage supplier interactions with NPD & Technology, aligning Medtronic Product and Supplier Technology Roadmaps.

You will:

  • Identify and communicate sourcing risks early in the development cycle to drive mitigating designs and focused supplier development.

  • Drive Supplier identification, evaluation, selection, development, qualification, and product launch ramp-up in line with category and product development strategies.

  • Identify potential new sources in technologies where category strategies do not exist.

  • Track and manage improvements in procured component supply risk, quality, material cost, and response/lead time for the full device procured bill of material.

  • Coordinate and manage all Sourcing project deliverables in support of New Product Development and report to stakeholders at the stage gate exit. Facilitate Early Supplier Involvement (ESI) technical reviews, effectively document agreements and risks, and drive closure of open action items.

  • Provide front-line negotiation with knowledge of category strategies and an ability to influence design/technology/source decisions.

  • Identify and monitor Sourcing supply chain lines to ensure efficient sourcing arrangements.

  • Monitor and manage overall component risk levels for the project.

  • Lead component sourcing responsibility transfers post qualification (to high volume facilities and operations - transition from Technical Sourcing to local Site Sourcing and Category Management.

  • Manage and coordinate all Sourcing project deliverables in support of product development.

  • Lead project management and coordination of all Sourcing project deliverables (component quality, supply risk, resources and performance, cost, capacity, lead time, and technology), supporting New Product Development and reporting to stakeholders at stage gate exit. Facilitate early supplier involvement (ESI) technical reviews, effectively document agreements and risks, and drive closure of open action items.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant technical sourcing experience or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant technical sourcing experience

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline

  • Design for Reliability & Manufacturability experience

  • Extensive Relevant experience in project management and supplier-related negotiation skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple technologies and priority changes while consistently meeting customer needs.

  • Broad technical knowledge/background

  • Lean and Six Sigma experience.

  • Proficient experience in the management of suppliers and supply chain.

  • Proficient business acumen and the ability to influence program objectives in a matrix organization.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$136,800.00 - $205,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
