What to Expect:

The Applications Development role involves managing and performing IT software development initiatives and projects. This includes activities such as application design, development, testing, deployment, and sustainment of software and web applications. The role requires adherence to organizational standards, procedures, ways of working, and guidelines. As a full-stack software and web developer, the individual will support the product lifecycle and deliver through a DevOps/agile approach. They will interpret business requirements, define technical tasks, engineer quality software, and provide support and troubleshooting for technical questions, software and database management, and cloud platform management throughout the product lifecycle.

A day in the life:

Reporting to the Manager of Enterprise Automation and Citizen Development, the Applications Development Specialist will be responsible for managing and performing various tasks related to IT software development. The individual will design and develop software and web applications, ensuring adherence to organizational standards. They will also be responsible for:

Operational Effectiveness and Efficiency

  • Designs and reviews user interfaces, database design, and data models within design constraints.

  • Conducts quality assurance, approves developed code, and executes end-to-end system and program tests.

  • Ensures adherence to continual delivery/continual integration standards, release methodology, and technical change management procedures. Additionally, creates user and technical documentation, improves development efficiency, and participates in Communities of Practice.

Risk Management

  • Reviews input into risk analysis and development plans in order to consider the impact of design decisions

  • Manages risks related to application development and implementation

  • Responsible for ensuring code complies to Industry and Nestle security Standards to deliver Security, Compliance & Privacy by design.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborates with colleagues from different disciplines in a cross-functional team to deliver against iteration targets

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field requiring strong analytical and quantitative skills, such as Computer Science or equivalent.

  • 5+ years of full-stack software development experience including ideally 2-3 in DevOps/agile teams

  • Proficiency in C# .NET, SQL, HTML, JSON, CSS, JavaScript, and Python, along with the ability to independently manage and support Azure cloud software hosting environment (web servers, containers, VMs, database servers, etc.).

  • Broad experience in translating business and functional requirements into technical specifications and developing the code to create the solutions

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with automated deployment, continuous integration, testing and release tools

  • Experience with cloud platforms and virtual environments (e.g. Azure, AWS, etc.)

  • Experience with effective communication at different levels in the organization and in English
