Are you a wellness leader and passionate community builder? Are you looking for more meaning in your work?

PARC Retirement Living is an award-winning developer and operator of independent senior-living communities. We’re seeking an Active Wellness Coach to join the PARC Wellness Team at our Cedar Springs PARC community in North Vancouver.

About working at PARC

PARC Retirement Living is everything that makes life the best it can be! Our PARC Active Living™ program is key to keeping our residents healthy, vibrant, and self-reliant. It’s easy, fun, inspiring, and soulful – enriching the body and the mind through four pillars of wellness: physical fitness, social pursuits, emotional health, and nutritious meals.

As Active Wellness Coach, you work closely with our Active Living Manager to deliver dynamic and holistic wellness programming, helping seniors stay mobile, set wellness goals, and improve their physical fitness.

As PARC Active Wellness Coach, you’re responsible for:

  • Inspiring seniors and motivating them to make healthy lifestyle changes, in an encouraging and fun environment.

  • Creating and delivering senior-tailored fitness classes, including group and circuit training, yoga, pole-walking, balance, core, and strength – plus cognitive, mindfulness, and other special programming.

  • Conducting fitness assessments for new and current residents.

  • Designing training programs and providing one-on-one sessions with clients.

  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and inviting exercise space, with equipment in good working order.

  • Evolving PARC Fit offerings to introduce new techniques, exercises, and innovations.

  • Supporting PARC Fit in the residence and in the community, including overseeing the sales of PARC Fit clothing and -accessories.

The perks of working at PARC

  • Meaningful work. How many jobs can say that? At PARC, you’ll be making a positive difference in seniors’ lives, each and every day.

  • Refreshments while you work. PARC’s chef-prepared cuisine rivals the best in BC, and we offer subsidized daily meals and beverages to employees.

  • No more late nights. Unlike the rest of the hospitality world, our closing shift ends at 9 p.m.

  • Flexible hours and location. We’re open to scheduling when and where it works for you – with guaranteed shifts every week. PARC has five great locations across the Lower Mainland.

  • A supportive, diverse team and training opportunities. We believe in giving our people opportunities to advance wherever we can.

It takes a special kind of person to work here – does this sound like you?

  • You have at least one year of experience in a similar senior-oriented environment or training facility.

  • You have experience working with older adults, and a solid understanding of how the aging process affects exercise design and instruction.

  • You’re a customer service superstar, who makes our residents, visitors, service providers, employees, and the public feel right at home.

  • You’re certified in personal training and group fitness class leadership, with up-to-date CPR, AED, and Fitness First Aid qualifications.

  • You’re familiar with injury prevention in fitness environments.

At PARC Retirement Living we require a Criminal Record Check, and a TB test within the first month of employment.
