Job Summary and Qualifications

  1. Display positive guest and employee relations at all times.

  2. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  3. Assists with planning employee’s work schedules.

  4. Enforces daily use of posted time and duty assignments.

  5. Assures all staff breaks are provided daily.

  6. Checks census, menu and daily work schedule, adjusting as needed to fulfill daily operational needs.

  7. Completes cash register sales records.

  8. Collects and enters daily and monthly statistical data into spreadsheets to have ready for director for month end reports.

  9. Assists with the completion of daily departmental tasks and special functions.

  10. Provides direction to cooks on production, safety, sanitation, and proper food handling.

  11. Assists in preparing cafeteria weekly menu and specials.

  12. Reviews production sheets and daily census to calculate proper food preparation.

  13. Assures accurate temperature is maintained on food preparation at all times.

  14. Assures temperatures are recorded, completes cooling logs are completed, all cooler temperatures at opening and closing daily are conducted.

  15. Instructs serving staff on proper temperatures, appearance and portion size to be served.

  16. Assures quality and appearance are maintained at all times.

  17. Maintains cafeteria food supply levels.

  18. Communicates with buyer on inventories to cover menu items.

  19. Participates in the orientation and training of new personnel.

  20. Attends all required meetings.

  21. Conducts daily huddles with team members.

  22. Maintains an orderly and sanitary department; assures proper infection control processes are conducted during all food handling.

  23. Monitor inventories for safe food handling practices.

  24. Maintains sanitation standards.

  25. Assures all products are labeled, dated and rotated, verifies by checking all coolers and storage areas daily.

  26. Implementing and maintain HACCP controls.

  27. Accountable for ensuring food receiving and storage are in compliance with regulatory standards, e.g. JCAHO, CMS, Texas Department of Health and City Health Department of North Richland Hills and HACCP.

  28. Inspects all work stations, coolers and service areas at the end of each shift to ensure all areas are compliant with safe and sanitary practices.

  29. Must be able to work all positions within the department.

  30. Attendance and being on time, ready to work scheduled hours is an essential job function.

  31. Assists in other areas of Food & Nutrition Services as needed.

  32. Works to create a team environment with all team members.

What qualifications you will need:

  1. Education

a. A registered dietetic technician or certified dietary manager is preferred.

b. Must have basic knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, mathematics and food handling.

  1. Experience

a. Minimum one year supervisory experience in a food production setting in an acute care setting preferred.

b. Experience in modified diets preferred.

  1. Specific Requirements:

a. ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification or North Richland Hills Department of Health - Food Handler Card obtained within 30 days and must be kept current.

b. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Food Handlers Permit, or ServSafe Food Protection Manager must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
