Amazon Robotics empowers a smarter, faster, more consistent customer experience through automation. Amazon Robotics automates fulfilment center operations using various methods of robotic technology including autonomous mobile robots, sophisticated control software, language perception, power management, computer vision, depth sensing, machine learning, object recognition, and semantic understanding of commands. Amazon Robotics has a dedicated focus on research and development to continuously explore new opportunities to extend its product lines into new areas.

Amazon Robotics co-op opportunities will be based out of the Greater Boston Area in our two state-of-the-art facilities in Westborough, MA and North Reading, MA. Both campuses provide a unique opportunity to have direct access to robotics testing labs and manufacturing facilities.

The TechOps team consists of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME), Product Quality Engineering (APQE), and Manufacturing Test and Controls (MTAC). AME transitions products to manufacturing and validates suppliers. MTAC develops testing, calibration, and defect analysis for internal and external manufacturing. APQE manages supplier quality, assessments, and continuous improvement across the product lifecycle.

We are actively seeking a talented and motivated engineer who will support the data collection and analysis to assist with root cause and corrective action. As part of your role, you will be working closely with cross-functional teams such as supply chain and manufacturing, whose ultimate goal is to deliver quality products on time to the customer.

Key job responsibilities

The Tech Ops Engineer Co-op will be responsible for:

  • Gather, analyze and document functional / technical requirements for new projects, enhancements to existing solutions and production issues

  • Conduct periodic project updates and review sessions with cross-functional team members

  • Support supplier improvement initiatives involving data collection, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving initiatives

  • Creates standard operating procedure documentations to capture key business processes

  • Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards that engineers, analysts, and data scientists use to drive key business decisions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related education

  • Knowledge of BI analytics/reporting/visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, AWS QuickSight, COGNOS, or other third-party tools)

  • Currently enrolled in College/University and must have at least one semester/term/quarter of school left to complete after the end of the co-op

  • Must be eligible and available for a full-time (40h / week) 6-month co-op between January-June 2025

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience with hardware/software integration and real-time systems
