The Back Office Medical Assistant Floater will perform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician for both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment. This role supports clinicians and care management teams in assessing, maintaining chronic disease management, examining, and treating patient populations. The Medical Assistant Floater is responsible for performing all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks. This floating employee will work in various offices to support either the MA role or dedicated lab functions.
Responsibilities
Perform quality team-based patient care under the supervision of a clinician.
Support clinicians and care management teams in chronic disease management, patient examinations, and treatments.
Conduct all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks.
Float between various office locations as needed to support patient queue demands.
Maintain effective communication and working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
Assess emergencies and act accordingly.
Essential Skills
Phlebotomy skills
Knowledge of laboratory quality control requirements
Knowledge of basic medical terminology
Knowledge of universal precaution procedures in medical safety practices
Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to assess emergencies and act accordingly
Flexibility to float from one location to another
Additional Skills & Qualifications
HS diploma required
2 years' experience within clinic/back office healthcare setting
MA diploma OR Certified MA (CMA) OR 3 years' MA experience
Phlebotomy experience required
MUST be able to take vitals (manual vitals preferred)
Active BLS required
Active driver's license required
Flexible to adjust to changing work environment
Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred
Experience with TriMed EMR preferred
Work Environment
100% onsite: floats between Monday-Friday 7:45am-5:00pm (and every other Saturday 7:45am-12:00pm).
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $41288.00 - $51043.00
