Summary The Health Technician (Restoration) is assigned to the Community Living Center (CLC),which is organizationally aligned under Nursing Service. The Restorative Health Technician is responsible for providing support to the Registered Nurse to deliver nursing care for our most complex residents in the CLC by performing such functions as collecting specimens, administering treatments including point of care testing, providing continuous monitoring of residents. Responsibilities Direct Resident Care/Documentation: Specific programs that are performed by the Health Technician in the CLC Restorative Care Program are as follows: ROM- active and passive; splint or brace assistance; bed mobility; transfer; walking; dressing or grooming; eating or swallowing; scheduled toileting or bladder retraining amputation and prosthetic care communication and restorative dining Collaboration/Education: Understands the resident's condition and medical treatment in order to be able to observe and report significant changes that require action by the nurse or physician. Makes visual observations of changes in resident's physical or emotional condition and keeps the team informed. Communicates with nursing care partners regarding residents' status and restorative care requirements. Participates in team conferences for planning resident care and health teaching, contributes to the plan of care, and documents information in resident's medical record following stated guidelines in nursing service policies and procedures manual. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, subject to change based on needs of the service. Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/23/2025. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR): Applicants who meet the IOR described below are fully qualified for the specified entry grade and must also meet the specialized experience requirements. Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 and above): Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. In addition to meeting the above Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR), applicants must also meet the experience relevant to this position. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience working in long term care setting; Experience in direct patient care assisting with activities of daily living; Ability to adapt basic nursing measures to meet physical, social, emotional, and rehabilitative needs of the long term care resident. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical) Patient Care Planning and Evaluating Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
