Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Business Intelligence Analyst I is responsible for development, summarizing and presenting financial and business information to the credit union team from various reporting environments such as our database and data warehouse, financial ledger systems and 3rd party environments. With general and specific guidance, the BIA will conduct and present financial analysis and utilize data to identify process gaps and help implement master data management processes.

Salary range for this position is $103,793.30 - $138,917.48 with a progressive benefit package.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs essential duties and responsibilities in the following areas which may include, but are not limited to those listed and are subject to change:

  • Works with stakeholders to develop and/or modify reporting or processes to resolve simple business problems by using IT solutions, includes analysis of business and user needs, documenting business requirements and translating business requirements into functional solutions.

  • Develops reports, visualizations, and custom extracts using business intelligence tools including, but not limited to SQL Server Management Studio, Episys PowerOn, SQL Server Reporting Services, R, Python, Excel Power Query and Power BI.

  • Develops stored procedures, views, custom tables, and defined business rules for reporting and analytic solutions. Develop a combination of simple to complex SQL queries to fulfill stakeholder’s requests.

  • Evaluates and works to improve the capabilities of Business Intelligence tools through new methodologies, technology, and data management. Review reports to improve accuracy, functionality, and consistency.

  • Integrates data sources from multiple systems to provide seamless reporting. Understand database relationships and interconnections among data sources. Maintain and enhance data integrity of all information connection through the Data Warehouse.

  • Analyzes data extracted from the database and validate accuracy of data and collaborates with other Power BI Pros within the organization to resolve data integrity issues.

  • Assists in the coaching and development of Power BI Pros throughout the organization.

Job Requirements/Expectations

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Management Information Systems or related field, or equivalent combination of training and experience of at least six years, with three years of experience in report creation.

  • Proficiency in business intelligence tools such as SQL, Qlik, SSRS, R, Python, Excel Power Query and Power BI.

  • Ability to work with multiple data sources and validate accuracy of information.

  • Basic understanding of data modeling to assist DBA in development of new source data models to align with existing DW.

  • Inquisitive nature for data discovery and aligning solutions to business needs.

  • Ability to prioritize and organize a wide variety of assignments and duties and large volumes of details.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in the financial industry a plus but not required.

  • Interpersonal skills to promote and represent the credit union and its products.

  • Must be able and willing to work a flexible schedule as needed to accomplish all duties.

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the IT Director Data Services & Development.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is not responsible for supervision of other employees.
