The Opportunity
Our Diagnostics business currently has an opportunity for an Analyst 1 Distribution in our North Chicago, IL location. The Analyst 1 Distribution will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system. Provide the distribution/ transportation information, analyses, and systems knowledge necessary to determine the most efficient and effective domestic distribution and transportation patterns.
What You’ll Work On
Evaluate domestic distribution and transportation operations, data, and facilities to support the identification of the most effective distribution and transportation patterns for products. Evaluates and implements results from distribution analyses.
Identify projects, perform data research, review, and analyze findings, make recommendations, present findings, implement approved recommendations with assistance from manager. Identify cost reduction projects; perform data research, review, and analyze findings, make recommendations, present findings, write final report, implement recommendation.
Analyze a distribution situation in terms of elemental and total costs for each operation; identify alternatives & costs, define the costs and savings of the best solution. Derive basic cost data using computers and mathematical models.
Plans Activity Structure and Relationships: Makes, or provides input to, plans to accomplish assigned activities to specification (cost, quality, time); sets timelines to accomplish goals.
Implements Plan; implements changes or improvements and incorporates into the routine operations of the organization; ensures that there are no loose ends, reviews open issues to improve long term success, (higher levels reviews OP's change requests, etc.) incorporates into the day-to-day operations of the area.
Gathers Financial Data: Identifies, gathers, financial information to assist in decision making; recognizes the type of information relevant to the issues under study and identifies sources. Utilizes Financial Information: Makes day-to-day decisions which demonstrate a basic understanding of the financial business drivers (e.g., Distribution and factory costs) and their inter-relationships. Adapts Information to Customer Needs: Adjusts communication style and medium (oral, written, electronic or formal presentation) to meet the needs of the receiver (peers, customers, vendors, managers), delivers only important information, uses appropriate level of language and detail for the receiver.
Provides Information: Shares information with appropriate frequency and timeliness to benefit the receiver, distributes background information prior to meetings, allows for adequate response time when making requests, keeps parties potentially affected by decisions apprised of events.
Identifies Future Development Needs: Translates changes in business goals and objectives into the skills, knowledge and experience needed for future work. Plans for Development: Prepares a plan that sets appropriate development goals, establishes timelines, identifies resources, and describes behavioral outcomes.
Recognizes Risk: Recognizes risk relative to procedures and takes appropriate action. Quantifies Risk: Identifies and quantifies the financial considerations associated with decisions. Evaluates Risk/Reward Trade Offs: Evaluates the risks associated with various alternatives such as the use of internal resources versus outsourcing, trade-offs regarding people and investments, and resource allocation, recommends actions and develops responses to cope with various scenarios.
Develops Tactics: Recommends changes to operational practices to accommodate internal and external customer needs; reviews work practices to identify changes that will support long term area objectives. Identify opportunities to improve service and reduce the cost of delivering product to customers.
Utilize management to review project priorities, training, and for review of all results/ recommendations of projects prior to publication to Abbott personnel. Operates with a small to moderate level of supervision.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree i.e Math Major or Supply Chain and similar degrees or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Min 2 years of experience in a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
2 - 4 years relevant operations/distribution experience: Experience includes manufacturing or distribution environment,
Experience with financial modeling and analysis is a plus
Expert in Power BI is a plus
possess an in-department knowledge of warehousing/distribution functions which include receiving, inventory control and shipping.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills as well as the ability to analyze and problem solve to resolve floor issues in a timely manner.
Must be able to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure.
Good working knowledge of warehouse floor control systems; SAP, ADMS, (Abbot Diagnostics Managment System), DFCS (Distribution Floor Control System) and Manhattan preferred.

The base pay for this position is $57,300.00 – $114,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
