Cummins Inc. Quality Engineer - Senior in North Charleston, South Carolina

DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented CRP Quality Engineer – Senior to join our team specializing in Quality for our Corporate Business Segment in North Charleston, SC.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Lead continuous improvement projects to achieve defect-free processes and enhance customer satisfaction.

  • Manage applicable systems related to plant customer issues, including corrective requests.

  • Lead containment activities to prevent the spread of quality issues.

  • Ensure products and processes meet initial and long-term quality standards, including compliance with IATF, customer-specific requirements, APQP, and PPAP documentation.

  • Drive change management activities for current products and Value Package Introduction (VPI), ensuring key measures are met and data is analyzed for decision support.

  • Conduct and support quality audits, serving as a technical resource to other functional areas.

  • Coach and mentor less experienced team members on quality practices.

  • Prioritize continuous improvement initiatives with cross-functional partners, utilizing industry-proven methodologies.

  • Basic understanding and application of Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) core tools.

  • Support Safe Launch initiatives through VPI.

• Quality 4.0: Leveraging digital tools for improved quality outcomes.

• Project management: Balancing scope, schedule, and resources for project success.

• Quality process management: Applying methods to ensure product quality.

• Quality system management: Guiding the practice of quality management system standards.

• Statistical foundations: Applying statistical tools to drive improvement.

• Talent development: Developing people to meet organizational goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

• College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering or related subject required.

• Demonstrated role competence required.

• Licensing may be required for export control or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

• Intermediate level of experience required, preferably 3-5 years in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Program Management in the automotive industry or similarly regulated industry.

• Minimum of 2 years of related manufacturing or quality experience required.

Additional Responsibilities for Sr. QE:

• Potentially supervise Quality Technicians.

• Responsible for Quality metrics in assigned areas.

• Represent the Quality function in plant forums.

• Assist Quality Manager with strategic planning and team culture.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
