As the Maintenance Technician , you will regularly inspect industrial machinery and equipment to identify signs of wear, damage, or malfunction.

ICL Specialty Fertilizers has a manufacturing plant in North Charleston, SC. This facility manufactures controlled-release fertilizer brands Osmocote®, Agroblen®, and Agrocote®. The shift assignment of this position varies and does involve occasional overtime, weekend, and holiday coverage as necessary.

I’m interested! What will I get to do in this position?

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical equipment issues and perform necessary repairs or replacements of faulty components.

  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergencies promptly to minimize production downtime.

  • Conduct and document planned maintenance activities to prevent equipment breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.

  • Responsible for keeping equipment in top condition for safe and efficient production results.

  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and maintenance procedures.

  • Operate machines as needed for both troubleshooting and to supplement production requirements during busy periods.

  • Safely operate cranes, power tools, hoists, and hand tools.

  • Assess the condition of used parts using micrometers, calipers, and specifications.

  • Maintain parts and tools inventory by checking parts out and keeping inventory organized.

  • Ensure that all maintenance activities are performed safely, and that the equipment complies with safety standards and regulations.

  • Maintaining detailed logs of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.

  • Working with other departments to identify and address equipment issues.

  • Any other duties as required.

What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?

  • At least 5 years of experience in either industrial maintenance or a combination of related technical education and work experience.

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Associate degree in a technical discipline or equivalent technical school degree preferred.

  • Ability to use technical manuals, blueprints, and engineering sketches as required.

  • Aptitude to analyze problems, identify root causes, and develop solutions.

  • Understanding of electric motors and motor systems with essential electrical knowledge and troubleshooting ability – 480 volt and lower.

  • Basic familiarity with instrumentation such as level, flow, temperature, PLCs, and HMIs.

  • Robust mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting ability of conveying systems, rotating equipment, fans, pneumatics, packaging equipment (50lb bagger, palletizer and stretch wrapper) and more preferred.

  • Capable of lifting at least 50 lbs., frequently walking up/down stairs and comfortable entering confined spaces.

  • Able to arc (stick) and MIG weld (Stainless welding a plus) preferred.

  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); specific experience with QAD EAM considered a plus.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.

Compensation at ICL: If you are hired at ICL, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. We also offer a generous benefits package (more information on benefits listed below).

Salary Range: $26.92 - $32.00 per hour

Annual Bonus Target : 5%, subject to plan provisions.
