Aerotek Heavy Equipment Operator in North Charleston, South Carolina

Description

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy machinery to assist in the construction and repair of construction projects. This role requires precision, safety, and the ability to follow directions closely.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate for this position is able to safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, loaders, and other machinery used in construction projects. Candidates are not required to have a certain amount of experience on one particular piece of heavy equipment, however the hourly pay offered for this role will be based on the type of equipment you run, your capabilities and the type of work the candidate comes from. Top pay is offered to those capable of fine grading and or proficiency with an Excavator since the work is mainly finish grade and pipe work.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with site preparation, grading, excavation, trenching, and other tasks as directed by the project manager or site supervisor.

  • Following all safety protocols and regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.

  • Work closely with other team members, including laborers, supervisors, and project managers, to ensure projects are completed on time and to specifications.

  • Assisting with general laborer tasks when needed. Candidates hired for this role will be required to assist with labor tasks, no matter tenure or operating capabilities. Those who do not wish to assist with labor tasks will be removed from consideration.

Requirements

  • Experience working in some sort of outdoor/construction work - examples include land fills, landscaping, pipe work, grading work, land clearing, etc.

  • Experience operating one or more pieces of construction heavy equipment. Operators who wish to learn and grow in the roll for higher pay will be given the opportunity, however an offer will be paid based on current skills and capabilities.

  • Experience working in some sort of outdoor environment.

  • Two forms of identification for onboarding purposes.

  • A reliable form of transportation to and from job sites.
