Stark State College Dentist Clinical Instructional Assistant in North Canton, Ohio
The position of Dentist Clinical Instructional Assistant (D-CIA) in the Dental Hygiene Program is an adjunct faculty role that provides instruction to students in Stark State College's Dental Hygiene Clinic while students provide treatment to patients. The D-CIA must be able to verbally communicate; work as an effective team member; be familiar with clinical grading system and be able to explain it to students. Duties include: Being a faculty team member while students provide treatment to patients.Reviewing patient medical and dental histories.Administering local anesthesia as needed.Evaluating student performance using established clinic evaluation rubrics.Managing medical emergencies in the clinic.Attending training, calibration, and methodology workshops (approximately 3-6 hours/semester).Identifying the need for patient medical consultations and following patient care protocols.Performing oral examinations.Evaluating and assisting students with alginate impressions, dental sealants, and whitening.Other duties related to patient treatment.Providing instruction in other dental hygiene program courses as needed.Supporting supply inventory and equipment maintenance protocols. Requires the following: Doctorate in Dentistry.Current License to practice dentistry in the State of Ohio.CPR Certification. Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Be able to effectively communicate with diverse populations.Possess critical thinking and decision-making abilities.Have working knowledge of computers to including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet navigation. Be available during the day, afternoon, and/or evening. *Hours and days will vary depending on the semester. Teaching assignments are based off enrollment in the course/program.
