Stark State College Biology Tutor (Title III Grant) in North Canton, Ohio
The central role of a Biology Tutor is to provide academic support for students as they complete their class. Tutors work with the Supplemental Instruction Coordinator to schedule sessions throughout the semester to best meet the needs of the students. Sessions may be scheduled face to face or online and at any campus locations. The tutoring philosophy follows a non-directive, facilitative approach. Please note that this position is grant-funded. As a result, it is not a permanent role but subject to the availability of ongoing funding of Title III grant. Typical Hours of Work (will be discussed in interview): Typical scheduled days are Monday through Friday, varied hours (for in person tutoring) Most of our online hours are done on Sunday- Saturday Location: Tutors will perform duties both online and in-person at our main campus and satellite location (Stark State Akron Campus). To be Considered You'll Need: Associate's degree in biology or a related field. Experience working in higher education with community college students. Preferred Qualifications (although not required): Basic technical skills and ability to perform duties in an online format, especially using Zoom.
