Choice Hotels Collections Analyst in North Bethesda, Maryland

The Collections Department is the team that recovers overdue payments on accounts, ultimately reducing the company’s DSO. As a key member of our Collections Department, you will contact delinquent franchisees to collect past due balances and discuss reasons and solutions for non-payment of accounts.

Your Responsibilities
Handle a high volume (30+ daily) outbound and inbound collection calls, challenge resolution, customer service issues
Address escalated customer collections issues
Maintain notes of collection activities in Peoplesoft
Maintain supporting documentation
Prepare, track and follow up on uncured Default Notices
Recommend Reservation Suspension on uncured Default Notices
Recommend termination of past due customers as applicable
Accountable for reduction in Aged Receivables and maintenance over DSO under 30 days
Recommend write-off of uncollectable receivables
Advise Cash Applications Team on proper application of payments as requested or as seen during daily workflow
Prepare documents such as ‘estimated fees’ or ‘incentive balances’
Reconcile customer accounts as they pertain to payment of outstanding balances that are due
Coordinate with relevant groups - billing, sales, legal, accounting, etc. to resolve customer queries/disputes etc.
Analyze collection process and make recommendations to manager where applicable
Evaluate AR and put into place action plan to prevent aging growth
Review aging and be able to explain reasons behind increasing or decreasing balances providing data to back up explanation
Perform other related duties as assigned/required
Your Experience, Skills & Competencies
1-3 years high volume corporate collections
Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
Knowledge of billing and collections procedures
Franchise industry collections experience preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Bilingual Spanish verbal and written communication skills preferred
Strong attention to detail, goal-oriented, and self-motivated
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple/competing responsibilities
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel

Your Team
This is an individual contributor role that will report to the Collections Supervisor. You will have 3 peer teammates and collaborate with cross-functional departments on a regular basis.
Your Work Location As our Collections Analyst, you will be based in our beautiful, state-of-the-art worldwide corporate headquarters in North Bethesda, MD. Less than 15 miles from Washington, DC, we’re located one block away from the North Bethesda Metro station, with service on the Red Line and the MARC Brunswick line, easy access to I-270, and plenty of free parking provided by Choice Hotels. Right now, our associates in corporate headquarters are working in a hybrid environment, up to 4 days per week in the office and virtually from your home office the remaining days. We provide flexibility and encourage ongoing communication with your leadership to establish expectations about your unique needs.
Salary Range The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $60,000 annually. The pay range listed is for this position and is what Choice Hotels reasonably expects to pay. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
