Your Opportunity
An opportunity exists for highly motivated, personable, and organized undergraduate student majoring in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related major. As an emerging professional, you will be working with a multi-disciplinary team in the office and at project site locations. This position may require some overnight travel and working at remote field sites. You will work directly with Stantec’s scientists, field team leads, and technicians, in addition to being assigned a mentor who will work one-on-one with you.
Your Key Responsibilities
Conduct field data collection efforts for archaeological surveys
Support data entry, and technical report preparation and production
Execute field work independently and safely
Communicate regularly with your assigned mentor and field team lead(s)
Comply with field safety and security protocols
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Proven technical, communication, and organizational skills
Proficient in MS Office applications
Ability to endure long days of physically and mentally challenging field work
Ability to walk long distances on flat, uneven ground
Ability to work safely in extreme weather conditions
Possess a positive solutions-oriented attitude
Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with a team
Ability to work in a dynamic environment
Strong work ethics and integrity
Good driving record and valid driver’s license
Ability to navigate on the road and in the field in remote settings
Education and Experience
Enrolled in an accredited University or College and perusing a degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related major.
Experience with MS office applications (Outlook, Excel, Access, and Word)
This position works in both field and office settings. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather, remote locations, summer heat, rough terrain, and wildlife; as well as bending, stooping, carrying field equipment, standing, and walking for extended periods of time, and making visual and tactile distinctions using color, texture, moisture content, depth, and distance.
