Serco Project Manager (LPD Class Manager Support) in Norfolk, Virginia

Position Description

Serco is seeking a Project Manager for a NAVSEA program to assist in developing and maintaining Microsoft Office based products to manage data related to LPD ship class modernization and sustainment operations. The Project Manager performs assignments for LPD Ship Class modernization, including data collection, compilation, and analysis. Anticipates future requirements and assists in evaluating plans for various projects or program activities to meet requirements. Senior Military Analyst will be directly responsible for oversight and management of LPD amphibious assault ship program on behalf of LPD Class Managers.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide direct support to the LPD Class Managers for planning and scheduling of each sustainment and modernization alteration at the program level.

  • Lead and /or participate in identifying, assessing, monitoring, and managing program risks by developing strategies for effective risk mitigation, avoidance, transfer, or acceptance.

  • Ensure LPD Class modernization alterations are properly planned and scheduled, fully developed to maturity, and authorized for installation for each availability in accordance with applicable fielding plans.

  • Draft and maintain LPD installation planning and scheduling sheets (Fielding Plan, Poker Chip) in coordination with LPD Class Availability Sheet (APS).

  • Assist in the development and monitoring of schedules, drafting late add messages, risk messages, to priority schedule changes.

  • Evaluate program activities and developing executive level briefing materials to report programmatic status to leadership.

  • Manage continual technical updates within Navy Database Environment (NDE) and Navy Modernization Process (NMP) ensuring it aligns with program objectives.

  • Maintain, update, and distribute accurate and current LPD Fielding Plan for all current and future alteration installations.

  • Conduct analytical studies with Cost Model team in drafting POM (Program Objective Memorandum) papers, Final Snapshot updates (FSS), PB (Presidential Budget), DON (Department of Navy) budget submissions to successfully plan and program alterations for future installs ensuring the program is within budget.

  • Assist in preparing or coordinating the preparation of Microsoft Office based products.

  • Attend meetings, draft written reports, and provide recommendations.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • An Active DOD secret security clearance.

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 7+ years relevant work experience.

  • In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 10 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving modern technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

  • Experience with Navy ship alterations and/or maintaining ship alterations planning and scheduling.

  • Former enlisted or junior officers with Navy shipboard maintenance and modernization experience are encouraged to apply, as are former government service/contractors with Navy shipboard maintenance and modernization experience.

  • Ability to prioritize and complete assigned tasking and represent Military and Government leaders at technical meetings.

  • Ability to prioritize and complete assigned tasking and represent at technical meetings.

  • Advanced Excel and Word proficiency

  • Ability to travel 25%

  • Experience with Navy Data Environment (NDE), Navy Modernization Process, Ship Change Documents, or Availability Planning is a PLUS.
