Childrens Hospital of The King's Daughters Patient Services Supervisor in Norfolk, Virginia
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Patient Services Supervisor plans, coordinates and manages all patient/resident nutrition care activities complying with the standards established by the company, regulatory agencies and client. Functions as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team to implement nutrition care plans. Reports to department leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborates with management to establishes and maintains policies, standards and programs for the provision of optimal, cost-effective nutrition care to patients/residents. This includes coordinating and directing patient service activities and determining and implementing appropriate staffing levels.
Develops goals and objectives for Patient Services to maintain high quality care.
Utilizes equipment, resources and programs to provide efficient and high quality care.
Supervises hires, evaluates and trains new employees including supervisors in accordance with company policy and regulatory standards.
Monitors scheduling of employees by supervisors to assure compliance to budgetary guidelines and adequate staffing of the patient service segment.
Monitors closely all operation of the patient service function to assure compliance to regulatory and client standards,
Close adherence to scheduled time frames.
Regular scheduling and performance of required sanitation tasks.
Consistent surveying of the work area to be aware of safety hazards.
Regular reporting and follow up required, assuring timely compliance to requests by the maintenance department.
Recognizes and adopts activities appropriate to the specific needs of the patient population and demonstrates knowledge of specific issues directly related to age of patient population.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other facility departments to provide a unified approach to patient care.
Monitors quality and portion control of food served to patients. Assures accuracy of regular and special diet trays. Initiates and evaluates quality assurance programs.
Operates area of responsibilities within budgetary restrictions.
Maintains established systems and training programs to provide a safe working environment. Complies with all OSHA regulations and other local, state and federal government regulations.
Maintains compliance with company standards of operation and client contract. Maintains all records and reports necessary to comply with the company, government and accrediting agency standards, regulations and codes.
Performs all other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree (BA) from a 4-year college or university, plus 2 years’ experience in food service management required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate (both verbal and written) effectively with clients, customers of client and support staff.
Ability to write letters, summaries and reports, using prescribed format and conform to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Requires management and leadership skills and the ability to work with confidential employee, client and company information.
Ability to work well under time constraints; apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with team members, various levels of management, and internal and external contacts.
Must be able to operate work equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
