Job Description
To provide advanced network engineering support to the University’s network environment ensuring reliable, secure, and robust network communication systems. Support includes planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining network communication systems (routing, switching and data center technologies).

Knowledge, skills and abilities
Considerable knowledge of data communication concepts, topologies, protocols, routing and switching technologies, to include wireless infrastructure support. Considerable knowledge of network design, administration, operations and management. Considerable knowledge of networking requirements for servers and storage platforms. Demonstrated ability to interact with vendors and co-workers. Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage time. Effective communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work with new leading edge technology with minimal assistance and prior knowledge. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to provide technical and project leadership to other staff members. In most cases these knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Conditions of Employment
This position is considered essential personnel and subject to working during university closings.
This position is located on the Norfolk campus with a hybrid work from home option.
This position is designated as sensitive. A fingerprint-based criminal history check will be required of the final candidate.

Annual Salary/Hourly Rate Salary is commensurate with education and experience and begins at $ - 73,226
