Medical Receptionist
Location: Onsite in Norfolk (VA Beach Blvd)
Experience Level: Intermediate
Employment Type: 4 month contract to hire
Salary: $18-19 per hour
Hours: M-F 8-5pm
Description:
Normal day for the medical receptionists are answering phone calls, checking patients in and out, and assisting patients with any questions that they may have. They work tasks in the EHR systems (AllScripts and EPIC) such as scheduling appointments for patients, faxing orders into the system from providers or that they receive from patients, and handling requests from providers for patient information and records. They will also be verifying insurance, collecting co-pays, and updating demographics.
Responsibilities-
Answer telephones.
Triage & direct phone calls to appropriate individual or area.
Enter patient information into IDX system.
Schedule appointments.
Process patients at check in & check out.
Prepare charts for office hours
Assure appropriate referrals are in place for each Date of Service.
Verify insurance information for assigned patients.
Follow-up with referring physician &/or patient if referral is required
Forward messages to physicians and staff in Allscripts
Schedule surgeries for assigned doctor in a timely manner including obtaining all required authorizations
Perform other duties as assigned, according to the individual departmental needs.
Patient Volume: between 20-30 patients per day
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Medical receptionist / patient registration experience - 1-2 years
Allscripts and IDX experience is preferred. If not, EMR experience
Health insurance knowledge
Great phone etiquette
Great customer service
Computer skills

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00
