Now Hiring: Material Handler

Job Description

Responsible for material control, accuracy, and flow to support building and shipping of various fiber optic and electrical products (cable assemblies, cable repair and installation kits, etc.) in a DoD contracting environment.

Responsibilities

  • Use hands, tools, and/or machines to pick orders for shipment and to pick, prep, and kit jobs for production/assembly.

  • Ensure production orders are picked accurately and in a timely manner according to the scheduled job start dates.

  • Perform basic assembly functions in support of the overall picking/assembly process.

  • Ensure material is accurately issued to production orders in the ERP system.

  • Replenish the assembly line with components from the warehouse.

  • Maintain accurate serial/lot traceability on all material at all times.

  • Maintain required records of production and report any inconsistencies in equipment operation or materials to supervisor.

  • Serve as a supplement to shipping/receiving functions including inspecting and receiving inventory shipments, processing receipts in the ERP system, putting away inspected material, properly packaging product for shipment, and processing shipments in the ERP system and on carrier sites.

  • Maintain a clean, neat, organized, and accurate warehouse.

  • Train and oversee Material Handler I personnel.

  • Safely operate production tools and equipment.

  • Safely lift/move material weighing 50 pounds individually or more with assistance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 Years Direct Experience

  • Associate’s Degree Preferred

  • ERP Experience preferred

  • Material handling/inventory control experience in a DoD contracting environment (CAV, GFM/GFE, etc.) preferred

  • Lean manufacturing experience preferred

  • Electric forklift/picker experience preferred

  • Shipping experience in a DoD contractor environment preferred

  • Experience with FedEx/UPS shipping interfaces a plus

  • Experience shipping internationally and/or hazmat a plus

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norfolk, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00
