BAE Systems Craft Supervisor I - Electrical Shop (2nd Shift) in Norfolk, Virginia

Job Description

BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair is hiring a Craft Supervisor in the Electrical Shop. The applicant will be responsible for overseeing Electrical Shop (regular and temporary employees), assigning work on multiple assignments during a workday and monitoring progress onboard vessels.

The selected candidate will be providing technical assistance and oversee the workforce in the Electrical Shop.

Ensure compliance/enforcement of company policies, procedures and the requirements of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Oversee and monitor schedule performance including review of ongoing and upcoming projects,investigate late activities, and provide input for solutions as needed. Monitor and evaluate project budget performance including review of ongoing and upcoming projects, and develop productivity enhancements . Monitor productivity across all assigned contracts;access the amount and type of work assigned as well as the quality and quantity of work accomplished. Perform personnel related functions including, but not limited to the supervision of journeymen,workforce reductions, promotions, demotions and discipline.

Ensuring that the Shop is pursuingCompany goals for Safety, Quality and Productivity.

Developing and/or reviewing projectschedules and budgets during the planning phase.

Allocating personnel and resourcesto efficiently support all contracts (including shift work).

Overseeing and monitoring scheduleperformance, including review of ongoing and upcoming projects, investigationof late activities, project supervision, and the development of practicalsolutions.

Monitoring and evaluating projectbudget performance, including review of ongoing and upcoming projects,development of productivity enhancements and investigation of over-budgetitems.

Monitoring productivity across allshifts, including the amount and type of work assigned as well as the qualityand quantity of work accomplished.

Performingpersonnel related functions including, but not limited to, the supervision ofemployees, performance management, workforce reductions, promotions, demotionsand discipline.

Ensuring that employees understandand adhere to Company policies.

Training and motivating employees inthe areas of technical knowledge, safety, environmental and communication.

Ensuring that requirements of thelabor agreement are satisfied

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Required education: High School/GED & Experience

11 Years with HS

Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in the trade.

Must have the ability to travel, and work off sight projects requiring background security

checks.

Must have a good working knowledge of electrical theory and or troubles shooting.

Must be able to read electrical drawing and blue prints.

Must have general understanding of marine electrical systems and how they inner relate with other

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Knowledge of effective supervisory methods and techniques.

Ability to plan, layout schedules, and supervise the work in an effective and cost efficient manner.

Considerable knowledge of the policies and procedures that is relevant to the Electrical Shop.

Previous supervisory experience in the maritime electrical industry.

Candidates selected for this position are expected to work the time required to accomplish the responsibilities of this position (more than 40 hours including weekends). This position is eligible for Extended Work Time Compensation (EWTC) for hours worked in excess of 45 weekly.

Candidates selected for this position must be willing to work off-site including travel to other sites to support work assignments. Candidates must be able to obtain a Rapid Gate badge for work at government facilities.

Must be able to get CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Qualified.

Responsible for ensuring that company goals for Safety, Quality and Productivity are aggressively pursued

Ensure Government policies are adhered to (NAVSEA Standard Items, Tag out Procedures)

Ensure that inter-departmental relations are maintained.

Ensure that requirements of the labor agreement are properly enforced.

Perform similar, incidental and other duties as assigned.

Accomplish timekeeping and time approval duties.

Must have good computer skills

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $61600 - $104700

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
