Robert Half Coax Technician in Norfolk, Virginia

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Coax Technician in Norfolk, Virginia. The role involves coaxial cable installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, ensuring the efficient and effective operation of coaxial cable networks. This is a position within the telecommunications industry where you will be tasked with delivering high-quality services to our customers.

Responsibilities

• Conduct installation, maintenance, and repair activities for coaxial cable networks, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

• Utilize coring tools to prepare coaxial cable for splicing and connectorization, ensuring optimal signal transmission and network performance.

• Perform forward and return sweeps to test signal strength, quality, and integrity throughout the coaxial cable network, identifying and troubleshooting any signal distortions or losses.

• Employ straight splicing techniques to join coaxial cables securely and reliably, maintaining signal continuity and minimizing signal loss at splice points.

• Select and install appropriate coaxial cable components, including connectors, splitters, amplifiers, and terminators to optimize signal distribution and network performance.

• Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to coaxial cable networks, including signal degradation, noise interference, and connectivity problems.

• Maintain accurate records of installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities, generating detailed reports to document work performed and provide insights for continuous improvement.

• Use skills in broadband, EO/IR systems, networking, OSP, patch panel, AB testing, cable installation, cabling, and coax cable to enhance job performance. Requirements • Demonstrable proficiency in broadband technologies

• Experience with EO/IR systems

• Strong knowledge of networking concepts and applications

• Familiarity with Outside Plant (OSP) operations

• Ability to operate and manage a patch panel

• Experience in AB testing methodologies

• Proficient in cable installation techniques

• Knowledge of cabling systems and standards

• Experience with coax cable handling and installation

• Understanding of digital systems and technologies
