Norton Sound Health Corporation Director of EHR/Population Health in Nome, Alaska

Purpose of Position:

Manage and define the software application systems, design and architecture of the electronic health record and telemedicine programs to assist hospital staff in the implementation, maintenance, reporting and upgrades; improve health outcomes of the residents within the Norton Sound region through collaboration with interdisciplinary professionals, manage and validate population health datasets, assist with outlining improvement processes for population health by using datasets, oversee and direct assigned employees within the department, demonstrating leadership and project management by providing work direction, motivation, training, assistance, performance evaluation and corrective action.

Essential Functions:

Perform leadership functions including selection, scheduling, training, performance management and discipline; Instill enthusiasm of assigned staff for NSHCs mission, vision, and values, paying particular attention to the maintenance of a safe and productive work environment.

Demonstrate personal initiative and accountability while managing the program's budget; forecast needs, allocate resources and/or take corrective action as necessary.

Facilitate the collaboration between clinic RNs, providers, and agencies to provide ongoing follow-up and care coordination services; and monitor patient care plans

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including specialty clinics and other events in support of healthcare promotion and care coordination

Manage and validate ongoing enhancements with the electronic health record and software to improve the health of the population

Serve as a liaison between the electronic record vendor, ANTHC, NSHC Information Systems staff and the health care providers overseeing training, management and usage of the systems.

Develop programming solutions for integrated applications. Participate in internal customer meetings to analyze and identify technology needs. Analyze trends and issues. Define concerns and problems of user community; interpret concerns, define desired results, and create program coding solutions. Document the current system workflow processes, activities, data elements and overall program goals and objectives.

Develop project plans, specifications, and modifications. Coordinate approval for the design of application programming strategy. Verify and validate application performance, document results, and refine software as needed to achieve goals.

Troubleshoot areas of need involving the connection between village and Nome-based operations in regard to electronic health records.

Analyze data and provide reports, correct deficiencies and work closely with the electronic health record vendor to maintain an efficient relationship

Minimum Requirements

Bachelors Degree (required), Master's Degree (Preferred)

Computer Science or related field, healthcare field with informatics.
