We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Director to lead and manage our AVD (Azure Virtual Desktop), Office 365, Desktop Engineering, and Cloud Infrastructure Operations. In this critical leadership role, you will oversee the design, implementation, optimization, and maintenance of all desktop and cloud infrastructure solutions, ensuring seamless collaboration, productivity, and innovation across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to drive strategic initiatives that align with the company’s overall goals.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy:
Lead and manage a team of engineers, architects, and technical specialists across AVD, Office 365, desktop engineering, and cloud infrastructure operations. Develop and execute strategies for cloud desktop technologies, cloud migrations, Office 365 optimization, and end-user computing (EUC) solutions.
Cloud Infrastructure & Desktop Engineering:
Oversee the architecture, design, and deployment of desktop solutions, focusing on Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Office 365 integrations, and cloud-based desktop environments. Ensure scalability, security, and efficiency of the enterprise infrastructure while supporting business growth and innovation.
AVD & Office 365 Optimization:
Drive the adoption of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Office 365 technologies, optimizing for performance, cost efficiency, and security. Ensure effective management of both virtual and physical desktop environments while providing high availability and user-centric solutions.
Cloud Operations & Integration:
Manage the full lifecycle of cloud infrastructure operations, ensuring the integration of desktop solutions within the larger enterprise cloud strategy. Collaborate with other teams to ensure cloud platforms are aligned with business objectives, security standards, and best practices.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Engagement:
Work closely with IT leaders, business stakeholders, and external vendors to align cloud infrastructure and desktop engineering initiatives with organizational needs. Drive improvements in collaboration tools, including Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and other Office 365 applications.
Security & Compliance:
Ensure that all cloud and desktop solutions comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Lead initiatives to ensure strong security posture, including identity management, data protection, and disaster recovery strategies.
Performance & Budget Management:
Monitor and report on the performance and operational health of desktop engineering and cloud infrastructure systems. Oversee budgeting and cost management for cloud services, ensuring efficient resource allocation and utilization.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices. Evaluate and implement new solutions and tools that drive operational efficiencies, enhance user experiences, and support organizational goals.
Required Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
Experience:
15+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing cloud infrastructure, desktop engineering, or related areas.
Extensive experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Office 365, and cloud infrastructure management.
Proven track record in cloud strategy, migration, and integration.
Strong background in managing large-scale desktop engineering initiatives, including both virtual and physical desktop environments.
Experience in managing cross-functional teams and working in a global organization.
Background in enterprise security and compliance
Skills and Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft 365, Office 365, and related enterprise tools (e.g., Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive).
Expertise in Azure, AWS, and cloud-based desktop solutions.
Strong understanding of virtualization technologies, networking, and cloud infrastructure operations.
Experience with ITIL and Agile methodologies.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and drive change in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Certifications (preferred):
Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate
ITIL v3 or v4 Foundation certification
