The Opportunity
We are actively seeking a Production Supervisor to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for production planning, quality control, coaching & training, performance management, lean initiatives and health and safety initiatives. In addition, you will inspire employees to bring forward continuous improvement opportunities to help maximize production and minimize costs.
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and guidance to department employees
Lead and develop culture of safe work practices
Ensure quality of product and that company SOP’s and processes are being followed
Organize and prioritize work for department taking into consideration lead times, material on order, and plant needs
Ensuring the safe and effective use of labour and materials
Lead, create, implement and assist in continuous improvement efforts to facilitate the lean manufacturing cycle
Resolve daily production and quality issues and employee performance concerns to ensure customer requirements are met
Demonstrate proper work ethic and attitude, facilitate and communicate changes in the workplace
Liaise with other departments and staff to facilitate projects and meet production goals
Participate and support the recruitment process by conducting interviews and providing input/direction into candidate selection
Conduct performance feedback discussions and support progressive discipline efforts
Participate in compensation discussions and review
Manage departmental budgets, complete administrative functions, and control inventory and parts required in production areas
Submit ECN's as required, approve scrap tickets and inventory adjustments, ensure employees are following SOP's
Manage employee productivity by ensuring proper training, materials, assignments, recognition, performance reviews, and accurate time management
Qualifications:
Previous leadership experience
3 – 5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment
Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal
Experience resolving daily production & quality issues
Lean manufacturing knowledge
Experience with fabrication, welding, and powder coating are considered assets.
Strong understanding of production times, inventory levels, order requirements, and process details in various operational areas of plant
Highly developed interpersonal skills to facilitate communication among a broad spectrum of people and departments
Good leadership skills, ability to guide and advise others
Ability to demonstrate best work ethics, communication strategies, and attitudes to all staff
Ability to multi task and prioritize work, along with strong organizational skills
Experience with various computer software programs including a good understanding of Microsoft Excel
