MRC Global Supply Chain Specialist in NISKU, Alberta

MRC Global serves the oil and gas industry across the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors as well as the chemical and gas distribution market sectors worldwide.

Job Purpose

Responsible for delivering responsive and committed support to internal and external customers; accountable for purchasing and inventory management, developing project quotations, offering sourcing solutions and assistance with specialized product identification and costing (i.e.automation, components and specialty valve products).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (not all inclusive)

Individual must be able to perform the essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Manage key vendor relationships;

  • Participate in achievement of Corporate goals;

  • Provide local leadership and direction for the Canadian Supply Chain organization with Global direction from Corporate SCM group;

  • Provide technical assistance and support regarding specification of products, and troubleshooting applications as needed;

  • Assist BD/Operation in developing project bids, special pricing, negotiations with manufacturers, sharing sourcing knowledge, various product options and customer interaction;

  • Support specific initiatives in development and execution. Be prepared to create and execute analyses necessary to advance various strategic initiatives, including; market sizing, vendor profiling, competitor profiling, customer account analysis, and profitability analysis of goods and services. Work closely with manufacturers and internal resources in support of sales growth and promotion of key manufacturers.

  • Understand and determining customer needs, requirements, and expectations in order to recommend specific products and solutions;

  • Enter and maintain purchase orders for corporate stock; manage procurement match and trade discounts as needed;

  • Assist branches in developing project bids with sourcing knowledge and options, special pricing, and negotiations with manufacturers;

  • Maintain various records and files including stock transactions, price catalogs, customer lists, product catalogs, and discounts;

  • Maintain current product prices, for both the product cost and the product resale, and send correct pricing to the Customer Data Center;

  • Review sources of pricing discrepancies and correct any pricing or quantity differences to be found;

  • Analyze branch sales and inventories to identify excesses, fluctuations, or unusual activity; redeploy and dispose of inventory if necessary, focusing on strategy set forth in inventory management plan;

  • Handle with great integrity confidential information related to vendor costs and other financial information vital to MRC;

  • Establish rapport and provide prompt responses to internal and external customer, vendor and branch inquiries about material and the procurement function (including warehouse errors, shortages, and damaged material);

  • Set up correct description of all inventory items; add new inventory to system as needed; ensure proper group class, item class and CIM structure is maintained;

  • Work scheduled and unscheduled overtime as requested;

  • Promote a safe workplace by visibly participating, encouraging and considering safety in every aspect of daily activity;

  • Take reasonable care for the safety and health of yourself and others; report workplace hazards, injuries, or illness immediately.

Education, Experience & Ability Requirements

Any combination of requirements, which provide knowledge and abilities necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities, will be

considered.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work / industry experience in Supply Chain operations;

  • Four (4) years supervisory experience or demonstrated capability to supervise;

  • High School Diploma or GED (General Education Degree) and additional post-secondary training or education;

  • Any combination of five or more years in customer service, inside sales and/or warehouse services in a position with increasing responsibility, to include demonstrated leadership/supervisory experience;

  • Demonstrated competence in the use of computers and software applications;

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and promote ideas and transfer detailed knowledge to others

Additional Qualifications

  • Must have the ability to provide documentation verifying legal work status.

  • Ability to read and speak the English language proficiently in order to communicate with others; to understand and interpret safety instructions; and to respond to inquiries;

  • Ability to understand and comply with MRC Global’s guidelines & expectations, to include Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest guidelines.
