Job Title: Downhole Tools Technician
Job Description
This individual will be responsible for disassembling, repairing, and maintaining downhole tools, specifically mud motors. Responsibilities include washing parts, buffing, painting, and reassembling the tools. The job involves using basic hand and power tools, a heating torch, a hand grinder, a stamper, and micrometers. Once trained, the individual will also operate an overhead crane. This work can be very dirty and requires a light physical demand.
Responsibilities
Disassemble downhole tools, specifically mud motors
Repair and maintain downhole tools
Wash, buff, and paint parts
Reassemble tools at the end of the process
Use basic hand and power tools, heating torch, hand grinder, stamper, and micrometers
Operate overhead crane once trained
Essential Skills
1 year of oil and gas shop or machine shop experience
Experience with basic hand and power tools
Basic mathematical skills (able to learn formulas and calculations)
Basic computer experience (able to use Microsoft Office)
Strong verbal communication skills
Willingness to work overtime and weekends
GED or High School Diploma
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with overhead crane
Experience with more complex hand/power tools such as torches
Forklift experience

There is potential for this position to become permanent after 1-2 years, with a possible contract extension of 6 months depending on business needs. Once permanent, there will be a pay increase of at least $1/hr. The company offers 80% benefits coverage with the option for 100% coverage at a slightly higher cost. There are opportunities for growth, including moving up in the assembly process and cross-training in other departments such as electronics or logistics.
Work Environment
The work is conducted in a shop environment with a team of 8 individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. While the work itself can be dirty, the shop is kept clean. The shift is from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm with lots of overtime, averaging between 50-60 hours per week, and typically includes one weekend day (usually Saturday from 6 am to 3 pm). The individual will be part of the sub-assembly division, which is the first line in the assembly growth chart, followed by bearings, main assembly, and lead hand positions.
