APTIM Safety Professional in Niskayuna, New York
Job Overview:
This position reports to the Environmental, Safety, Health, Quality and Training Manager in support of the Decontamination and Decommissioning (D&D) of facilities at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory and Kesselring Site, both located in upstate New York. The Safety Specialist will be responsible for the implementation of EHS policies and procedures, ability to interpret and apply OSHA standards, EHS surveys and audits, maintain EHS documentation, collect and analyze EHS metrics, conduct accident investigations, participate in the safety committee. Provide safety field oversight of production personnel involved in radiological and RCRA D&D activities. This position requires the ability to write reports and procedures, computer skills, public speaking, participate in project meetings, work in a team environment, and excellent follow through.
Basic Qualifications:
The position requires a minimum of five years of safety and industrial hygiene experience with a Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, industrial engineering or related field of study required, and working knowledge of OSHA Construction Industry standards.
CSP, CIH, CHMM or equivalent certification preferred.
Experience in the fields of construction, demolition, remediation, asbestos abatement, lead abatement, lifting & rigging, ergonomics, noise, scaffolding, air monitoring and industrial hygiene equipment
Prior shipyard, DOE, or Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program experience strongly preferred
Experience in radiological and environmental decontamination and decommissioning fields a plus
Must be a US Citizen; no dual citizenship
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Level L Security Clearance
Must be able to obtain and maintain radiological qualifications
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to pass and maintain a medical clearance for entry into radiological areas.
Occasional overtime and travel may be required (infrequent)
