Niagara Falls. Durez Corp. Senior Analytical Chemist. $89,000 - $110,000/year.
Essential Functions: Responsibilities that are requirements in order to perform the job include: * Preparing laboratory solutions, such as mobile phases, reagents, standards, and samples * Performing routine analytical testing according to established methods and SOPs * Independently use a range of techniques and instrumentation, including the associated software, to carry out research and analysis * Independently carry out the development and validation of new analytical test methods * Analyzing and interpreting data * Making sure that data is accurately recorded in accordance with guidelines * Maintaining instrument logbooks and other laboratory documentation * Coordinating analytical testing needs with outside laboratories * Preparing research papers, reports, presentations, reviews, and summaries for internal and external customers. Assist less experience analytical chemists with this duty. * Keeping up to date with scientific and technical developments * Leadership role in Identifying and evaluating new analytical technologies to support product development * Ensuring that health and safety standards are adhered to by less experienced chemists * Well known expert and liaison with customers, suppliers, and research/scientific staff * Independently maintaining and troubleshooting instrument performance
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation: * An expert understanding of the theory and techniques of analytical chemistry * Ability to operate and maintain a variety of state-of-the-art analytical instruments and assist younger chemists with this duty. * Must be able to think logically and work independently * Must have the demonstrated capability to solve complex problems through the application of scientific principles * Demonstrate systematic approach to tasks * Must have excellent technology skills and be able to progress with changing technology * A strong understanding of the statistical analysis of data, such as F-tests, t-tests, ANOVA, and DOE * Must have good verbal and written communication and presentation skills * Must be able to work in teams * Responsibility as mentor and leader for Chemist I and/or Chemist II
Education/Experience Guidelines: Bachelors degree in chemistry or a related scientific field with 15+ years experience in an analytical laboratory environment or a PhD in chemistry or a related scientific field with 3 10 years experience in an analytical laboratory environment. Knowledge of phenolic chemistry is a plus.
