Newtown Savings Bank Project Management Officer (Onsite) in Newtown, Connecticut
Location: Newtown, CT
Newtown Savings Bank is seeking an experienced Project Management professional for the role of Project Management Officer. The Project Management Officer will be responsible for overseeing and managing complex technology projects and other strategic initiatives from inception to completion. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record of successfully delivering technology solutions and completing defined projects on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, and will be capable of developing and managing a Project Management Office (PMO) process. This is an onsite opportunity at our Corporate office in Newtown, CT. This role has remote option of one day per week.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
PMO Program Development: Establish and manage the Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure consistent project management practices across the organization.
Project Leadership: Lead and oversee a portfolio of projects, including technology, business transformation, and process improvement initiatives.
Management: While the position has no direct reports, responsible for management through influence across the organization.
Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with senior leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to define project objectives, scope, and deliverables.
Resource Allocation: Allocate resources effectively to ensure project success, including managing budgets, timelines, and personnel.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring timely resolution of issues to keep projects on track.
Performance Monitoring: Implement and maintain project performance metrics, providing regular updates and reports to stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO and project management processes.
Full-Cycle Project Management: Support the execution of full-cycle project management duties to meet project goals within given constraints (define goal, scope, deliverables, resources, and timeline; planning, monitoring, controlling during execution, and finally, sustain and close).
Project Plan Development: Support the development and creation of project plans, assign tasks, and monitor progress to ensure timely completion.
Risk Escalation: Identify and escalate potential risks, support developing mitigation strategies, and continuously monitor for issues impacting success throughout the project life cycle.
Communication: Regularly communicate project updates to stakeholders, team members, and leaders; proactively address concerns.
Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships and work cross-functionally to support project initiatives.
Meeting Facilitation: Organize and facilitate project meetings with clear agendas, document meeting outcomes, and follow up on action items to ensure accountability.
Documentation Templates: Create project documentation templates for current and future projects.
Process Innovation: Leverage business acumen to help innovate or improve processes.
Plan of Action Development: Develop a plan of action to get projects completed, working across departments to ensure their needs and wants are included within the confines of the project and budgetary restrictions.
Deadline Management: Manage deadlines and push the team to ensure timeliness.
Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with vendors and suppliers as needed.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in project management, Business Administration, or a related field. PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
5-10 years of project management or related experience. Proven experience in building and managing a PMO program. Experience in Banking or Financial Services preferred but not required.
Strong understanding of technology projects, including software development, IT infrastructure, and digital transformation.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to influence and drive change across the organization and manage without direct reporting authority.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in project management tools and software.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
