Bright Horizons Senior Payroll Specialist in Newton, Massachusetts

What you will be doing:

The Senior Payroll Specialist will be processing and reconciling multi-state, multi-site biweekly payroll for designated locations/personnel and supporting the team of payroll specialists

Provide excellent customer service to all levels of employees including field and corporate and within the payroll team, including technical support for HRIS, Payroll and Employee Time Management systems.

  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of bi-weekly payroll for assigned locations/personnel.

  • Process and verify in a timely and accurate manner all new hires, terminations, rate changes, job changes, bonus payments, manual checks and address changes for a set amount of field and corporate personnel.

  • Audit various daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to ensure HRIS & Payroll system information is updated and accurate.

  • Assist in processing & completing manual checks as required. Perform bi-weekly audits of manual checks, processing messages/errors and exceptions.

  • Assist with training and informing the centers/schools of policy (current and new); assist training the payroll specialists.

  • Provide support to operations/field for Opening/Closing/Transitions/Acquisitions.

  • Coordinate wage verification with Equifax, as necessary; perform periodic audit on verification process.

  • Assist with gathering information for unemployment agent and risk management department.

  • Assist in abandoned property research.

  • Work with treasury/Accounting on payroll account reconciliation monthly.

  • Work with payroll Director, Manager, Assistant Manager and/or Supervisor on projects.

What we hope you will bring to this role:

  • Payroll experience 3-5 years, preferably with Multi-State/Multi-site payroll experience.

  • Knowledge/experience with various state and local payroll taxes.

  • Experience providing excellent customer service.

  • Proficient with MS Excel.

  • Qualifications include being a self-starter who will manage deadlines, workflow, and growth with minimal supervision; professional with excellent interpersonal skills, who can communicate with colleagues at a variety of levels throughout the organization; able to work in a fast pace, high volume environment; strong leadership qualities; organized, detail oriented and customer service oriented.
