POSITION SUMMARY:

Primarily responsible for the administration and processing of payroll in a timely and accurate manner, in compliance with State and Federal regulations. Maintains and supports the most efficient and effective use of the Bank’s HR Information System (HRIS).

RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL):

• Administer the payroll systems and processes, including related time-keeping systems and related reporting.

o Review payroll source data and reports for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to DOL regulations and bank policies;

o Compile, calculate, and process payroll data such as new hires, promotions, terminations, pay differentials, retro/manual pays, overtime, employee tax deductions garnishments, paid time off, and benefit deductions;

o Manage the accurate data flow between the payroll database and payroll general ledgers; and

o Administer quarterly and year-end payroll processes.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.

• Ensures compliance with all state and federal taxation requirements.

• Responsible for a variety of reconciliations processes on a monthly, quarterly, and year-end basis.

• Assist in the maintenance of the HRIS, including data accuracy, implementation of system upgrades and enhancements, and serving as a contact with vendor

o Research and resolve HRIS-related problems, unexpected results or process flaws; recommend solutions or alternate methods to meet requirements.

• Respond to inquiries concerning employees’, payroll deductions, leave accruals, hours, wage garnishments and other related topics; assist with resolution of related problems; troubleshoot errors and assists supervisors with technical matters.

• Write, maintain and support a variety of reports utilizing appropriate reporting tools. Assist in development of standard reports for ongoing HR business needs; manage data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data on a regular basis.

• Recommend process/customer service improvements, innovative solutions, policy changes and/or variations from established policy relative to payroll and other HR initiatives. Participate in, and sometimes lead, various HR projects and initiatives, especially those involving the HRIS.

• Participate in the administration of benefit enrollment including new hire, newly eligible, and annual open enrollment processes; Assuring benefit election information is accurately reflected in the HRIS, payroll deductions, and effectively disseminated to appropriate benefit vendors.

• Process Directors’ pay on a quarterly basis; Process special payrolls as necessary.

• Assist in the maintenance of procedure manuals.

• Serve as a backup for benefits administration and other HR functions as requested.

• Adhere to regulatory requirements, such as Anti-Money Laundering and Bank Secrecy Act.

• Comprehend and adhere to federal banking regulations in accordance with BHBT policies and procedures.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Two or more years of multi-state payroll processing experience required, preferably at a publically traded organization.

• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation and/or an Associate’s degree in related field preferred but will consider candidates with additional experience.

• Meaningful experience with HR Information Systems (HRIS)is required; experience with UKG products is helpful but not required.

• Strong understanding of HR processes, data and best practices including payroll laws and calculations, year-end requirements, etc.

• Experience with 401(k), workers compensation, leave administration, and benefit administration is helpful.

• Knowledge of and ability to apply Federal and State employment regulations.

• Thorough knowledge of MS Excel and Word.

• Effective organizational and interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication skills.

• Resolution-focused.

• Strong accuracy and attention to detail.

• Ability and willingness to:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Physical Demands: This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.

• Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines

SCHEDULE EXPECTATIONS:

This position is full-time, Monday through Friday with regular hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

REQUIRED TRAVEL:

There may be occasional travel for work related functions, meetings, and employee meetings.
