aVTOL Operations Research Analyst
JHNA has an immediate need for a dynamic and skilled Operations Research and System Analyst to join our team in supporting our Army Aviation customer at Fort Eustis, VA. This role offers the opportunity to impact Army Aviation development of autonomous VTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing) and its use in operational aviation units.
Roles and Responsibilities:
As part of a study team the successful candidate will:
Assist with developing operational scenarios and use cases for the employment of autonomous capabilities in aviation systems
Assist with modeling and simulating autonomous VTOL capabilities in operational aviation units to determine the mission effectiveness and operational benefit to warfighting commanders.
Determine efficient and effective ways to collect the desired data and rapidly assess it for relevance. Identify data gaps, errors, anomalies, inconsistencies, and redundancies by performing detailed analysis of the content, structure, and relationships within data.
Conduct complex data analysis and assists in writing technical reports for S&T projects focused on maturing autonomy in rotary wing applications. Manage and performs data analysis that involves designing, developing, and utilizing mathematical, statistical, optimization, econometric, and other scientific methods and techniques. Uses software tools such as EXCEL Data Analytics; Python (AI & ML), MATLAB, MS BI, and MS Office among others to perform duties.
Additionally, the best candidate will have experience in:
Conceptualizing and formulating problem statements, developing solutions, and developing analysis methods and approaches to examine solutions effectiveness and efficiency.
Applying advanced principles, theories, and concepts to solve uniquely complex problems and be able to research technologies, systems, and operational environment to increase understanding of the system use and application.
Required Experience / Capability:
Bachelor of Science degree (or higher) in a STEM area or Data Science, Operations Research/Business Operations/management area from an ABET or equivalent accredited College or University
Minimum of 8 years' experience in field;
Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clerance;
Knowledge and understanding of Military Science and Technology (Military or Army Aviation experience preferred);
Be able to be on site periodically for meetings or presentations and travel 15 % of the time within the continental United States
Desired Experience / Capability:
Operational experience working with Military rotary wing aircraft or UAS.
Clear understanding of Military Wargaming, modeling and simulation and use of M&S Tools such as ONESAF, MACE, and AFSIM or similar tools for simulating military operations.
Be formally training in Operations Research and Systems Analysis (ORSA).
