The Role

This job will provide technical and project management oversight for the execution of submarine industrial base projects. The ability to solve problems, articulate technical scopes of work, and provide active project management & communication is essential to this position. Some travel may be required.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience;

Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience;

Ph.D. and 4 years of experience.

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Nice to Have

The ideal candidate will also possess the following preferred skills:

• Practical experience in technology project management (e.g., welding, NDT, additive manufacturing, technology insertion, etc.)

• A master’s degree in in business administration or engineering management is preferred

• Excellent verbal and written communication in order to clearly present technical approaches and findings

• Experience with technology development cycles is preferred.

• Some routine project management support for Additive Manufacturing projects may be required.

• Demonstrated project management experience gained through practical and/or academic experience.

• The ability to perform technical work and/or project execution of emerging technologies, process development, test plan development, R&D, materials analysis, technical scouting, and/or complex technical analysis are anticipated.

• The ability to write project proposals, vendor statements of work, perform business case analysis, and provide technical recommendations for business decisions is essential to this role.
