The Challenge
We are looking for a skilled Automotive Mechanic/Equipment Repair Technician III to join our Newport Equipment team.
In this role, you will:
- Perform progressively responsible tasks involving advanced diagnostics and use computer diagnostic software to troubleshoot and repair light, medium, and heavy duty on- and off-road equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance, repair, rebuilds, and diagnose mechanical and electrical systems on gas- and diesel-powered automotive, light, medium, and heavy-duty on- and off-road equipment.
- Complete fuel and lube inventories.
- Assist other technicians in troubleshooting.
- Complete more complex repairs.
- Assist supervisor.
- Maintain fuel site records and inspections per NCDOT and NCDENR requirements.
What You Bring
- Experience performing preventive maintenance on 1+ of the following: light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, and heavy equipment.
- Experience performing electrical/ electronic diagnostics and repair of complex wiring on 2 of the following: light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, and heavy equipment.
- Inventory management experience, including parts, fuel, and lube commodities.
- Experience performing hydraulic system diagnostics, repairs, and rebuilds on a variety of equipment.
- Diagnostic and repair experience of powertrain components.
- Ability to read and follow electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Strength to move relatively heavy objects.
- Communication skills to follow and perform written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining focus.
- Ability to prepare paperwork related to employment and equipment repair.
- Ability to perform skilled mechanic work, including brakes, steering, tires and tubes, wheels, rims and hubs, transmission (auto and manual), charging systems, cranking systems, ignition systems, CAN BUS systems and associated control modules, lighting systems, cooling systems, exhaust systems, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, air conditioning, instruments and gages, and air intake systems.
- Class A Commercial Drivers License. (Don't have it? still apply! You can get it through our on-the-job training within 360 days of hire).
Note
- We require a pre-employment drug test and will conduct a background check with your previous employers for the past 3 years for controlled substance and alcohol testing.
Education and Experience
- High School/GED diploma, and
- 3+ years of relevant experience, or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
