Data-Mail Continuous Improvement Engineering Manager in Newington, Connecticut

LOCATION: Newington, CT

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday; 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of this position is to identify and oversee engineering projects that will improve production efficiency in all aspects of Data-Mail Production by implementing new equipment, processes, procedures and/or designs created through process improvement initiatives. Machined design improvements and reliability are also a critical component for this role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsible for electrical, electronic and/or mechanical upgrades and/or improvements, and repairs on:

· Envelope machinery

· Laser Printers

· Bindery high speed cutting, folding, and finishing equipment

· High-speed inserting equipment

· Lettershop high technology inkjet printers

· Pick and Place machines

  1. Oversee new equipment installations and validation

  2. Support for all mechanical, electrical, electrical controls and machine control troubleshooting, repair, and installation.

  3. Machine reliability and maintenance development and sustaining

  4. Support for technician staff in all electro-mechanical troubleshooting and repair

  5. Identify, specify, and recommend new equipment to include ROI evaluation.

  6. Implement methods and procedures to reduce cost and/or improve operating efficiency in all departments.

  7. Implement the most cost-effective solutions to throughput constraints.

  8. Maintain production quality standards supporting the lettershop quality systems team

  9. Participate in all safety initiatives throughout Data-Mail manufacturing

  10. Comply with company rules and regulations.

  11. Adhere to proper safety procedure and PPE requirements.

  12. Maintain confidentiality of company-sensitive data.

  13. Ensure all safety procedures are followed.

  14. Perform employee evaluations when appropriate and within a reasonable timeframe.

  15. Keep manager/supervisor informed of activities and situations that will impact the achievement of corporate or department goals and objectives.

  16. Perform other related duties as required to achieve the goals and objectives of the department and company

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma

  • Four-year college degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering preferred

  • 5 years of supervisory and related experience in high-speed automation in manufacturing

  • Experience in mail processing or equivalent is a plus.
