Newark Central School District Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction in Newark, New York
DESCRIPTION:
The Newark Central School District Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction maintains strategic direction and provides leadership of the curriculum and instruction of students.

Providing leadership, direction and general supervision of P-12 educational programming and curriculum
Providing leadership, direction and general supervision of P-12 professional learning, including supervision of instructional coaches, development, review and implementation of the District Comprehensive Professional Learning Plan and facilitation of the Professional Development Committee
Providing professional development on instructional, operational and leadership topics
Overseeing the directors who lead the development, review, and implementation of all intervention services including MTSS and Pupil Services (IEPs, 504s, ENL)
Supporting the development, review, and implementation of the Strategic Plan and school-related plans and goals
Supervising the development, review, and implementation of curriculum and instruction-related policies
Organizing and facilitating advisory committees, including but not limited to Principal Alignment, Instructional Council, Curriculum Council, alongside the Superintendent
Ensuring mandated and appropriate state reporting including developing protocols and supervising processes
Development and oversight of Universal Pre-Kindergarten and ESSA-funded grants, including School Improvement Grants and related reporting
Development, review and implementation of the teacher evaluation and observation process, including providing unannounced observations for teachers and administrators
Development, review and implementation of the mentoring program for new teachers, staff and administrators
Facilitating ongoing communication between and among departments and component districts
Providing leadership and guidance for professional learning communities districtwide as needed
Understanding instructional outcomes in alignment with NYSED regulations and curricular expectations
Facilitating communication with regional community agencies and organizations
Understanding accountability as per NYSED and federal instructional requirements overseeing the school improvement process
Remaining current on research pertaining to the areas of responsibility listed above
Performing other duties as assigned by the Superintendent as deemed necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
Job Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a Master’s degree and NYS School District Administrator (SDA), or NYS School District Leader (SDL), certificate at the time of appointment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of ten (10) years of successful experience in school leadership roles

Special Education Services MTSS Practices Instructional Technology
