ABOUT THE POSITION
Track Design Engineer - Transit & Rail | Hybrid | New York, NY | Newark, NJ
VHB is seeking a Track Engineer/Designer to join our dynamic and growing Transit & Rail Engineering team in the Northeast. This position provides an opportunity to work on complex transit & rail transportation infrastructure projects and play an important role in expanding and shaping the group.
Responsibilities
- Perform civil design on a variety of rail projects including track structure and drainage, alignment geometry, grade crossings, stations, layover facilities, and maintenance of equipment (MOE) and maintenance of way (MOW) yards
- Managing the development of technical design and specification documents
- Assist in the development of construction bid documents
- Prepare written planning documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports
Skills and Attributes
- Working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in civil engineering
- Skilled in technical design; experience with CAD and MicroStation
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Team oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of transit & rail engineering experience required
- BS in Civil Engineering
- Engineer in Training certification expected
- PE license preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months
Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $76,000-120,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
