Job Summary

We are looking for an individual with extensive hands-on experience with setting up, configuring, automating, and supporting data lake and analytics services in Amazon Web Services.

The Senior Technology Engineer – AWS Data Lake is involved in the full technology life cycle and is responsible for designing, coding, configuring, testing, implementing and supporting Amazon Web Services data lake and analytics services. . Senior Technology Engineers work closely with Analysts, Product Managers, and the business to understand the business requirements that drive the analysis and physical design of technical solutions in AWS data lake services. Senior Technology Engineer is responsible for creating reference architectures, best practices and procedures. Senior Technology Engineers may be assigned both implementation and support functions. Implementation involves creating new technology based solutions whereas support involves upgrades, maintenance or issue resolution to existing technology solutions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate an understanding of concepts, best practices and functions to implement Core Services in AWS, including: AWS EC2, LambdaS3, CloudFormation, VPC, IAM and EBS

  • Analysis of business technology requirements and translate into technical designs for new technology solutions or enhancements to existing solutions, while following architectural standards and organizational policies

  • Design, configuration, development, documentation, testing of technology solutions

  • Create automation solutions to enhance/enable service capabilities and reduce time to deployment

  • Demonstrate coding and scripting experience

  • Experience in troubleshooting AWS Services

  • Perform quality review of automated solutions

  • Serve as technical mentor to team members and business super users

  • Develops, implements, and oversees AWS Well-Architected Framework best practice policies and procedures

  • Identify and implement cost optimization across cloud hosted infrastructure

  • Evaluate existing technology solutions to recommend alternatives or modernized solutions

  • Collaborates with stakeholders to ensure proper integration of the new solutions with the existing technology solutions

  • Creates technology solutions based on a disciplined process and ensures they meet all product and service level requirements. Ensures that the design and technology solution implementation meets security and QA standards. Makes solutions and solution parts production-ready by following the standard change management processes

  • Documents capabilities and any changes to new or existing components and associated test activities and test results

  • Works with Clients to deliver business outcomes by executing projects through the Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC) inclusive of identifying, specifying and analyzing business requirements and processes and managing progress throughout the design, test and implementation process (work is technically difficult, requiring innovative and creative solutions and frequently involves multiple platforms, software, hardware, technologies and tools including public and private cloud-related resources and storage)

  • Participation in rotational duties such as on-call support

Job Specific Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related STEM field plus 6 years of professional technology solution engineering

  • Strong working experience in scripting using Python, BOTO3 Library, and version control

  • Experience creating and maintaining AWS Cloud Formation Templates

  • Deep knowledge and experience with core AWS services

  • Experience building pipelines using AWS CloudFormation or Terraform

  • Experience developing/deploying AWS solutions enterprise-wide following the AWS Well-Architected Framework

  • Strong experience with AWS IAM and Principle of Least permissions

  • Experience documenting technical solutions/business and system process flow techniques using methods such as engineering drawings, UML, etc.

  • Knowledge of system monitoring tools to drive efficient resolution of issues

  • Experience in Agile methodology

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and technology solution ownership

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, and multi-task effectively

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication and facilitation skills; ability to foster working relationships within IT and client departments

  • Understanding technology architecture, platforms, with ability to explain technical concepts in relation to business requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in defining measurable success metrics of technology solutions in addressing business and technical requirements to achieve desired outcomes

  • Demonstrated ability to work cross functional to accomplish a common goal

  • Exposure to Cybersecurity best practices

Desired:

• AWS Certified Developer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, and/or AWS Certified Data Analytics certifications.

• Experience with automation platforms.

• Working knowledge of networking concepts.

• Experience with Utility, Power, Clean Energy, or related business analytic requirements.
