Position Summary:
The School of Applied Engineering and Technology (SAET) of the Newark College of Engineering at NJIT is searching for a Senior University Lecturer for its Concrete Industry Management (CIM) program in the Built Environment Division (SBED). The candidate will teach primarily undergraduate courses in CIM, and may include both lower and upper level as well as lab courses. The ideal candidate will have a broad set of built environment skills including project management, estimating, and scheduling. In addition, the preferred candidate would have a professional background in concrete: mix design, processing, applications, repair, delivery, and construction methods. The individual should be willing to work with colleagues to develop new teaching approaches, curriculum, and experiential opportunities in the NJIT Makerspace. S/he will teach in accordance with the policies and standards of the department and the direction of the Chairperson. In addition, although this is primarily a teaching position, the candidate may also be involved in other activities in accordance with the terms of the current collective bargaining agreement.
Essential Functions:
Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students.
Participate in course, program, and experiential learning development as required along with the formal assessment of student performance.
Participate in student events and external outreach activities as required. Participate in program accreditation activities.
Participate in constituent meetings with the Industrial Advisory Board (IAB).
Prerequisite Qualifications:
Candidates with a minimum of a M.S. in Engineering or related field together with strong industrial experience will be seriously considered.
A minimum of five years teaching experience in higher education.
At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong preference will be given to applicants with industrial experience, Professional Engineering licensure, and a Ph.D. in Engineering or related field.
