Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Head Coach - Men's & Women's TF and Cross Country. Reporting to the Athletic Director, this is a twelve-month position.This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
  • Develops and maintains all facets of a successful NCAA Division III Track and Field Cross Country program
  • Recruits athletically and academically qualified students
  • Retains students in the program
  • Plans and conducts practices
  • Fundraises
  • Prepares and manages budget
  • Hires and supervises assistant coaches
  • Performs other secondary duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
Education or combination of education and/or experience equivalent to:
  • Bachelor's degree required

Experience:
  • 3 years of T&F and Cross Country coaching experience at the College level; as either Head or Assistant Coach or, 3 years as a Head Coach at the High School level with Collegiate playing experience.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Valid driver's license

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must be computer literate
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Must have demonstrated ability to successfully recruit to an NCAA DIV III institution located in an urban environment
  • Must be knowledgeable of NCAA DIV III regulations and must be committed to adhering to all NCAA, NJAC, and CVC institutional regulations

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be able to work under sometimes challenging physical conditions
  • Must be able to lift heavy items up to 50 lbs, per OSHA standard
  • Willingness to work long hours, including nights and weekends
