Roles & Responsibilities:
Works closely with internal Rail departments and other NJ TRANSIT departments to develop and implement strategies for improving safety, reducing costs and maintaining/improving service reliability and efficiency.
Works with the Capital Planning & Programs and Finance Departments to ensure adequate capital and operating funds are available for safety and state-of-good-repair requirements and to meet other organizational objectives.
Provides input, and makes recommendations on corporate policy (e.g., safety, fares, service, capital investment, etc.).
Manages special projects for Rail Operations, including the planning and deployment of Rail Operations service and field support for major events such as sporting and entertainment events, conventions, conferences, dignitary visits, disaster planning and response. This also includes the execution of events related to community and agency partnerships, among other initiatives.
Leads the execution of projects initiated and sponsored by the SVP of Rail Operations from inception to completion. Responsibilities include designing workflows, preparing reports and presentations, encouraging cross-functional collaboration, ensuring timely delivery, and effectively communicating results to stakeholders, employees, and executives.
Collaborates closely with Communications and Government and External Affair teams to develop public positions and statements. Represents Rail Operations at meetings with external stakeholders, including the FTA, FRA, PANYNJ, advocacy organizations, and elected officials. Additionally, serves as the liasion on behalf of the SVP/GM of Rail Operations to the EOC/OEM at incident command, prep for board and committee meetings, government policy briefings, and other directives.
Leads discussion and meetings with NJ TRANSIT senior management and Rail Operations staff on various matters, including employee orientation, communications campaigns, procurement, crew optimization and service recovery efforts.

Education, Experience & Qualifications:
Four-year degree from an accredited University in Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field. One (1) year of related work experience can be substituted for each year of education required.
Minimum five (5) years’ experience in executive administration, project coordination, research, or related areas.
Experience in public transportation strongly preferred.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Must have experience managing department budgets and addressing headcount-related issues. Additionally, experience supporting senior executive staff, collaborating with external agencies, aligning with business objectives, and handling highly confidential information is required. Strong leadership abilities, a strategic vision, and excellent project management skills are essential for success in this role.
