Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Business System Analyst for the department of Healthcare Risk and Claims Management (HRCM). Reporting to the Sr. Department Administrator, this position provides accurate and actionable data regarding highly confidential professional, cyber and general liability incidents and claims. This position combines technical expertise with business acumen to optimize system functionality, ensure data integrity, and contribute to effective risk reduction, loss control, claims management and risk financing. The Business Systems Analyst leads review meetings and interfaces with internal and external stakeholders, including the State of New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, requiring a high level of professionalism, discretion and technical proficiency.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Manages, updates, and ensures the accuracy of critical claims reports and data for claims staff, university administrators, and stakeholders.
  • Extracts and analyzes data for managerial decision-making and produces data-driven presentations for university committees.
  • Configures systems, grants access, and provides onboarding training for new users from Rutgers, University Hospital, and Rowan.
  • Administers and oversees claims databases, resolves discrepancies, processes invoices, and coordinates with supervisors to ensure seamless operations.
  • Serves as the primary liaison with IT and external vendors to maintain system functionality, address anomalies, and deploy enhancements.
  • Provides training and support for system updates and enhancements, ensuring users are equipped to manage workflows effectively.
  • Supports claims personnel by managing essential data inputs, tracking claims, and investigating social media activity related to litigation cases.
  • Oversees the enrollment and invoicing process for postdoctoral health insurance programs.
  • Performs additional duties as needed, adapting to emerging departmental priorities.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates a knowledge and understanding of system configuration, data management, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Two (2) years of experience in system configuration, data management, technical development or a related field.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; written and oral communication skills; problem solving skills; and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing QAS and a range of software applications, including the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, video conferencing tools, with a strong aptitude for adapting to new technologies.
  • Ability to manage to multiple concurrent tasks with efficiency and focus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Rutgers University policies, procedures, and organizational structure.
